She started the talk by speaking to herself in front of the mirror and telling herself how much she loved herself, every bit of herself. Every part of herself that society deems unappealing. "Thick thighs, you are just so sexy, you can't stop rubbing each other...I'm going to keep you," she told herself in front of the audience.
Ashley touched on survey results that found only 2% of women liked the way they looked. That's the world that we live in right now, but people like Ashley are working to change that.
One of my favourite parts of her talk was when she told everyone that ""The fashion industry may persist to label me as plus size, but I like to think of it as my size."
She went on to talk about her struggle to fit into the very tough industry of fashion and how she finally felt she could claim her body for her own. She explained how her body had been controlled by the fashion industry and how she has reclaimed it. She has found her purpose...to redefine beauty and be a role model for us Average girls.
