The manuscript is written and has been edited! I've photographed nearly 30 young women, but I want to photograph more! Why? Because I want the book images to represent everyone.
I want every girl who opens the book to see someone that reminds them of themselves!
Currently, I am specifically looking for young women who can represent those who have physical disabilities and those who have down syndrome. I am also looking for more women who have scars, who have suffered from or overcome an illness, who are Indian/Asian/African American.
Having these girls involved in my project will help others to feel empowered to love themselves as they are, have a healthy body image and redefine what ideal beauty is. I believe that my project will create conversation about how body image plays a role in the overall health of ALL young women (eating disorders, mental health, bullying, etc.).
I would really appreciate it if you could forward the details of this project on to any girl or young woman who may be interested in helping me achieve these goals.
Here are the details:
Average Girl Photoshoot: White bathing suit or white underwear set to be worn and provided by participant for photoshoot. The goal is to show the unique and loveliness of each body without having any young woman “bare it all.” An example of what the images will look like, can be found here: http://www.loveaverage.com/the-book.html
Where: Most photoshoots take place at my studio in Milton, Ontario but I am willing to travel to appropriate local locations if needed.
What Participants Get: Complimentary makeup (if they would like), complimentary mini photography session (headshots, family, etc.), and a copy of the book (when published).
Criteria: Again, I am looking for young women…
-who have a physical disability
-who have down syndrome
-who suffer from an illness or who have overcome an illness
-who are Indian/Asian/African American
-Must be willing to sign a model release form/have a parent willing to sign a model release form
Private Facebook group for participants: https://www.facebook.com/groups/averagegirl
Again, I would really appreciate it if you could forward the details of this project on to anyone who would be willing to participate in such an important project.
