While we still do not know who is responsible for making these Photoshop decisions (probably some ad or marketing exec), we do know that it's ridiculous. Especially since the film editors can't Photoshop the entire movie that Melissa stars in! You aren't fooling anyone advertisers! And just for the record...we like seeing beautiful and funny women that look like the rest of us!
Entertainment Tonight recently covered the story gave a shout out to UK Plus Size Mag SLiNK, a magazine that offers an alternative to traditionally slim style Photoshop. SLiNK Magazine gives advice on "styling your curves, fashioning your life" but really focuses less on the Plus Size end of things and more on being fashionable at any size! (I am also super in love with SLiNK right now because I got to write for them! Check out their recent "Escape Issue" for an article I wrote on escaping the male gaze in fashion!!
Entertainment Tonight also spoke to model, Katrina Van Wyk, to get her opinion on Photoshop in magazines and over the recent Melissa McCarthy fiasco! Check out the story below....(start at the 1:45 mark to see the story on Melissa McCarthy and the 3:00 minute mark to see some great images from SLiNK Mag and Katrina Van Wyk's interview with ET)!
