These were the words written by Toronto Star LIFE Reporter, David Graham. These type of statements are harmful to girls and young women and only reinforce females "place" in the media as objects of desire. Objects that are seen only desirable when they maintain societal thin and beauty ideals.
First of all, Kelly has NO back spillage. Second of all, if she was any thinner all you would see is her bones. Oh wait, that seems to be the only body representation that is socially accepted by our media. Fat or skinny, women have no right to be judged so harshly because of their bodies.
I don't know what bothers me more. The fact that this comment was rude and uncalled for or the fact that it was made by a man who has no right to judge any woman's body (isn't his job strictly to judge the fashion anyways).
No wonder girls are faced with so many body issues...
My advice...do NOT listen to comments like this. Challenge the media.
